Margie Bettiol, Holistic Health Practitioner

Getting to know me….

I have been inspired by many women throughout my life. I come from a lineage of artistic & skilled women who also provided an environment for dialogue on many subjects. Throughout my life, women have shown up as mentors or teachers. These opportunities and experiences were constant and have had a significant impact on my belief system of what constitutes health and well-being. Some of these women are/were medicine women/shamans and some were somewhere along that path. Their teachings remain with me today and I carry those with humbleness and honor.

At fifteen I decided to be a vegetarian, I joined organizations focused on the well-being of the planet, by age 20, I was involved in organizations focused on the rights of women & began pursuing meditation and yoga. I followed a career focused on early childhood education, was an elementary school teacher, taught in an alternative private school and was a special education teacher. Most of my career was working for the provincial government focusing on the development and funding of various social programs from child welfare, children’s mental health to family violence and sexual assault programs etc. I raised my son as a full-time sole-support single mom. Parallel to my career, my passion for understanding all aspects of health & well- being led me to studying many practices and gaining certification in many.  Part of that Journey included studying meditation with a Buddhist monk for several years. Once I retired from the government, I committed my time to supporting others on their journey to wellness using a holistic approach.

My formal studies include advanced papers in Cranial Sacral Therapy, Touch for Health, Therapeutic Touch, Reflexology, Electromagnetic Field Therapy and Tapping (EFT).  I tend to use an integrated model in my practice unless a specific practice is being called for. I include breathwork, guided meditation and other techniques to further support one’s healing process.

I am a certified teacher in Intentional Creativity (Colour of Women 2019). I work privately with individuals seeking various levels of healing using painting as a part of the process. I hold healing retreats for women. Retreats include intention work, water ceremony, yoga, guided meditations, breathwork, drum journeys, and painting as a part of the process. No experience as an artist is required.

I have been holding Full Moon Ceremonies with women for many years. They have evolved into focusing on an individual’s personal work in a non-intrusive way. I also hold Red Thread Circles for women as a way to connect women and their stories. Groups will be offered at OHANA.

People approach me with various health conditions. Presenting concerns span short or long-term illnesses, injuries, fatigue, stress, maneuvering life challenges etc. Physical aspects sometimes turn out to hold an emotional component associated with life events, emotional challenges in one’s life, fears, anxiety, childhood experiences etc.
